Terms of Service

1. Platform Description

Portfolio Place is a two-sided marketplace connecting students seeking tutoring with qualified teachers offering tutoring services. Portfolio Place facilitates bookings and payments but is not itself a tutoring service provider.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Portfolio Place
• Users under 18 must have parental consent
• You must provide accurate and complete registration information
• One person may not maintain multiple accounts

3. Teacher Obligations

• Complete KYC verification before receiving bookings
• Only offer subjects and levels you are genuinely qualified to teach
• Attend all confirmed sessions punctually or provide at least 2 hours notice of cancellation
• Maintain professional conduct at all times during sessions
• Not attempt to conduct payments outside the Portfolio Place platform
• Not solicit students to contact you directly to bypass platform fees

4. Student Obligations

• Fund your wallet before booking sessions
• Attend confirmed sessions punctually
• Provide honest, fair ratings after sessions
• Not abuse the dispute system with false claims
• Not record sessions without the teacher's explicit consent
• Treat tutors with respect and professionalism

5. Payments & Escrow

Session fees are held in escrow upon booking. Funds are released to the teacher after session confirmation or automatically after 24 hours. Platform commission of 15% applies to all completed sessions. A 1% withdrawal fee applies on tutor withdrawals.

All payment disputes must be raised within 24 hours of session end through the Disputes feature.

6. Cancellation Policy

Student cancellation: Full refund if cancelled more than 2 hours before the session. No refund for late cancellation or no-show.

Teacher cancellation: Student receives a full refund. Repeated teacher cancellations negatively impact rank score and may lead to account suspension.

7. Prohibited Conduct

• Sharing inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content during sessions
• Impersonating another person or falsifying qualifications
• Attempting to manipulate the ranking or rating system
• Using the platform for any activity other than legitimate tutoring
• Circumventing platform payments by transacting directly
• Harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any platform user

Violations may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

8. Dispute Resolution

Portfolio Place's admin team reviews disputes submitted within 24 hours of a session. Decisions are made based on session logs, chat history, and evidence provided. Our decisions are final within the platform context.

9. Intellectual Property

All platform content, design, and technology is owned by Portfolio Place Technologies Ltd. Users retain ownership of content they create (session notes, uploaded documents) but grant Portfolio Place a license to store and display it for platform operation purposes.

10. Limitation of Liability

Portfolio Place is not liable for the quality of tutoring services provided by independent teachers. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Our maximum liability to any user is limited to the amount of fees paid in the preceding 3 months.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days in advance.
