Are there subscription fees?

None. Portfolio Place is free to join. Students only pay for sessions they book. Teachers pay a rank-based platform cut on completed sessions — nothing upfront.

Who sets the session rate?

The teacher sets their own hourly rate. Students see the rate on the teacher's profile before booking. No hidden fees are added.

What does the platform cut cover?

Platform maintenance, payment processing, dispute resolution, KYC verification infrastructure, and customer support.

How do I reduce my platform cut?

Earn a higher rank by completing more sessions, maintaining a strong rating, keeping your completion rate high, and minimising disputes.

Is there a booking cancellation fee?

Cancellations made more than 2 hours before a session are fully refunded. Late cancellations are non-refundable to protect the teacher.

When does a tutor receive payment?

Funds are released from escrow after both parties confirm completion. If not confirmed within 24 hours, funds are automatically released.

Is there a withdrawal fee?

A flat 1% fee applies when withdrawing to a bank account. This covers bank transfer processing costs.
